New Technology Tenant Signs-up at City Quays 1
Massachusetts-based technology firm MACOM has become the third tenant to sign-up at Belfast Harbour’s City Quays 1 office development.
The US technology firm, a leading player in the international semiconductor market, is transferring its existing Belfast R&D operations to the waterfront site at City Quays.
MACOM will occupy some 8,000 sq ft at City Quays 1, joining fellow US firms Baker & McKenzie and Cayan, also headquartered in Massachusetts. MACOM’s Belfast operation is responsible for developing specialist components for the semiconductor market.
With 60-years’ experience in the semiconductor industry, MACOM’s products can be found in a wide variety of applications including high speed optical, satellite, radar, wired and wireless networks, automotive, industrial, medical, and mobile devices.
Graeme Johnston, Property Director, Belfast Harbour said
“Although it’s just 18-months since work began on City Quays 1, MACOM’s move means that the Grade A office will be c.85% occupied by this Spring. The lease for the remaining space is currently being agreed with a fourth tenant. The relative lack of investor-friendly, energy efficient office space in Belfast has been well reported and the speed at which City Quays 1 has been let to overseas investors confirms strong market demand for high quality office accommodation. Initial interest in City Quays 2, a 124,000 sq ft, £20m sister office due for completion next year, is already strong.”
