BELFAST HARBOUR TRAILBLAZING CULTURE NIGHT & DAY 2019
Belfast Harbour is proud to announce its support for Culture Night 2019 for the fifth year in a row. Already Belfast’s biggest cultural celebration, Culture Night is undergoing a major expansion with the addition of ‘Culture Day’ which will take place on 20th and 21st September.
Over 200 organisations will take part in the festival with hundreds of free, family-friendly events over two days across Belfast city centre and beyond. In addition to a host of outdoor street performances, Culture Night and Day also involves a range of venues, galleries and historic buildings which will open for events, talks and tours.
Belfast Harbour will be offering a new walking tour of Belfast Harbour in association with Brilliant Trails. The tour will allow people to explore Belfast’s iconic waterfront with an especially created walking trail filled with fun facts about the Harbour Estate.
The tour takes place from the ‘Big Fish’ from 3pm until 5pm on Friday 20th September and from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 21ST September. Participants can collect the trail map for the self-guided tour at the ‘Compass’ in front of the Big Fish.
Families can also enjoy an array of crazy circus fun at a pop-up circus which will run along the riverfront on Friday 20th September from 4pm – 9pm.
The themes for this year’s Culture Night & Day, which is now into its eleventh year, are Pride, Accessibility and Sustainability.
Joe O’Neill, Belfast Harbour’s CEO, said:
“Belfast Harbour has a long tradition of supporting the arts and we’re delighted to continue our support for Culture Night & Day 2019 which is always one of the city’s annual highlights.
“It’s great to see an inclusive programme which reflects Belfast’s growing diversity and celebrates local artists who make this city a thriving hub of creativity.
“The riverfront will provide a great backdrop to the street performers and the walking tour is the perfect opportunity to let people explore and enjoy our waterfront at City Quays in an entertaining and inventive way.”
Susan Picken of CQ Trust said:
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Belfast Harbour once again this year, especially as we’re getting the chance to highlight one of the wonders of Belfast – our waterfront and its fascinating history! The Brilliant Harbour Trails are a definite highlight of Culture Night and Day and it’s wonderful to be able to open up this side of Belfast to so many people with some genuinely amazing animation and fun to be had all around the Harbour. Brilliant Trails and brilliant performances come together for another brilliant Culture Night (& Day) at Belfast Harbour!”
