Seas The Day! Healthy Oceans, Healthy Minds returns with more than 20 Events taking place nationwide
Live Here Love Here is gearing up
to host its third annual Healthy Oceans Healthy Minds campaign which aims to
raise awareness of the many benefits healthy marine environments offer our physical
and mental wellbeing. A partnership with Belfast Harbour, the campaign boasts
an impressive programme of events right across the province, allowing
communities to immerse themselves in marine life, and better understand why we
should protect our lakes, seas, waterways and the ocean around us.
The programme of more than 20 events
includes a clean-up at Hazelbank Beach led by Mayor of Antrim &
Newtownabbey, an immersive foraging experience along the Crawfordsburn
shoreline, a sea swim at Seapark and boat tours for young people in Portrush.

Jenni Barkley, Communications
and Corporate Responsibility Manager at Belfast Harbour said: “We
are delighted to be once again this year to support Live Here Love Here on such
a fantastic initiative. Northern Ireland is blessed with many rich marine
environments that serve our communities in many ways, not least by providing healthy
outlets that support our wellbeing. The Healthy Oceans Healthy Minds campaign
is a really valuable initiative because it supports communities to positively
engage with our waterways but also learn that by adopting better habits we can
all help to protect these spectacular assets from further damage and pollution,
allowing generations to come to reap their rewards.”
For its third year, Live Here Love
Here has ensured the Healthy Oceans Healthy Minds has activities that all can
get involved in and learn from and is inviting community groups, businesses,
clubs and families across the province to engage.
Helen Tomb, Manager at Live Here
Love Here said: “For this year’s Healthy Oceans Healthy Minds campaign,
we wanted to reiterate the importance of motivating and empowering one another
to come out and reconnect with the full array of waterways right across the
country so we are proud to reveal our programme of event packed with variety
right across the country.
“We are incredibly lucky to have
so many tranquil and beautiful aquatic areas on our doorsteps, and so this
campaign is an important opportunity to reiterate the importance of protecting
and celebrating these areas.”
Healthy Oceans Healthy Minds runs from 20th
to the 31st August 2022.
