Belfast Harbour Film Studios Supports Future of NI’s Screen Industry

Plans to quadruple the size of Belfast Harbour Studios will see Belfast Harbour enable growth in the film industry.

Planning permission has been granted to quadruple the size of Belfast Harbour Studios, in what will be a £45m investment in Northern Ireland’s burgeoning film industry, and we expect to progress that project in 2022.

This year saw the completion of Regency Film’s ‘The Northman’, starring Nicole Kidman, and we then welcomed the first production by Netflix to film in Belfast, a drama series called ‘The School for Good and Evil’. We have continued to build relationships with many of the world’s largest content producers including the likes of Amazon, Universal and Paramount. We work closely with Northern Ireland Screen and the Department for the Economy to promote the screen sector to these global players.

Supporting the local film industry, we worked with in partnership with NI Screen to support the Screen Academies skills programme in 2021, giving young people the opportunity to work on a film production, be mentored by industry professionals and gain valuable work experience to allow them to pursue a career in this growing sector.
